While the effects of global economic crisis come closer to all sectors; Members of Antalya Commodity Exchange want some preventive measures to be taken against the possibility of recession in the Turkish-Russian trade, in order to keep Turkish agriculture away of those effects.
“A Ruble region is already being formed”
Ali Çandır, Head of the Directory Board of Antalya Commodity Exchange (ATB) pronounced that ATB always has the responsibility of producing and sharing solvent suggestions as well as determining, evaluating and criticizing such conditions; “Euro and Dollar regions, which % 70 of our exportations go, are in serious depression and having serious demand losses. Against that; countries which we have redounded our ex-im potential 7 times greater in the recent 7 years and which still have the potential to grow more; like Commonwealth of Independent States, Iran, Turcic Republics and Russian Federation are trying to form a Ruble region. These countries signed some agreements in November 2008 so as to form a Ruble region. It shouldn’t be surprising if; even some European countries join that Ruble region soon, as these countries are already forming an energy region, as well. If we use Ruble while trading with foremost Russian Federation and with Commonwealth of Independent States and Turcic Republics; it will also be much more easier to collect the current claims of our exporters and our contractors. The collection of these claims without any more delays will also bring positive contributions to domestic economic activities to get into motion. Otherwise and with the predicted devaluation in Russian Federation in the upcoming few months; all related sectors will face some serious losses”.
Ali Çandır kept on as follows; “We demand that The Central Bank and The Undersecretariat of Treasury immediately put legal regulations which will allow Ruble trade, into practice. We have delivered written demands to each establishment and to TOBB, The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey”.
